Theatre in Education – Empowering Students Through Storytelling

Inspiring Change Through Theatre!

'Matt' Theatre in Education (TIE) project brings powerful stories to life and addresses critical mental health issues through live school performances.

Our mission is to foster resilience, promote mental health awareness, and encourage empathy by sharing Matt’s emotional journey from depression and addiction to recovery.

We believe theatre can open minds, start conversations, and inspire action in the next generation.

What is Theatre in Education?

Theatre in Education is a dynamic way to engage students in critical social issues. Live theatre creates immersive, educational experiences.

Our 'Matt' TIE project aligns with the PSHE curriculum, helping students explore the themes of mental health, emotional well-being, and the importance of seeking help.

Through this performance, students are encouraged to break the stigma of mental health and take proactive steps to support themselves and others.

Why 'Matt'?

A Story of Struggle, Resilience, and Hope. The 'Matt' project is based on the real-life story of a young man battling depression.

Students witness Matt’s emotional journey as he navigates overwhelming feelings, isolation, and the challenges of seeking help.

The performance encourages students to reflect on their mental health, build emotional resilience, and understand that asking for help is a sign of strength.

By the end of the performance, students leave with a message of hope: recovery is possible, and no one has to face mental health challenges alone.

How It Works:

Pre-Performance Preparation:

Schools receive a comprehensive Teacher Information Pack to prepare students for the performance themes. Activities include reflective journaling and group discussions introducing mental health and emotional resilience concepts.

Live Performance:

The 'Matt' TIE performance is a 45-minute live show that depicts Matt’s journey through depression, addiction, and recovery. It is designed to resonate emotionally with students and encourage them to engage personally with the story’s themes.

Post-Performance Workshop:

After the show, students participate in a facilitator-led workshop to reflect on the play, discuss coping strategies, and build their own Mental Health Toolbox. This interactive session reinforces the performance's messages and provides students practical tools for managing their well-being.
